THE PIG are a group of country hotels where they are fully committed to local and home-grown produce. Each PIG has a garden where they grow their own vegetables, herbs, edible flowers and so much more! THE PIG-on the beach is located along Studland bay, completely surrounded by nature and is so peaceful. If you’re visiting then you absolutely have to have a meal here and try the food on their 25-mile menu!
What’s special about the menu?
The food on the 25-mile menu is as it says from within 25-miles. What this means is that it’s freshly gathered from the garden or sourced within 25-miles where they are unable to rear/grow in the garden. As a vegetarian there was so much choice and variety. Much more than what’s available in other restaurants where sometimes the only main options are risotto or a pasta. Even the desserts are worth trying even if you have to share it because it you’re so full!
Right now it’s time to look at the food!
You’re given complimentary freshly baked bread. We had sourdough and focaccia, this is served with butter. What is even nicer is if you have it with their herb infused oil and smoked salt! It’s so delicious.
To start I had wild stuffed sweet bite peppers, these were stuffed with garlic cream chese and were absolutely delicious!
For mains, I had a summer vegetable risotto. It was so tasty and my friend had pork loin. We of course had to share a side of triple cooked chips which were so good!
We were so full but had to try a dessert so we shared a blackcurrant cheesecake!
Top Tips:
- If you do want to visit then make sure to book in advance as they get booked up very quickly!
- Be sure to have a walk around the garden after you’ve eaten. It’s really cool seeing where your food came from and what else they are growing!
- Overall the whole experience was amazing. I definitely want to visit more THE PIG hotels to try out their restaurants. Food was delicious, the staff were so friendly and helpful and the setting is beautiful. There’s not much more you could ask for!
