When on holiday, what does everyone look for? Yes, instagrammable breakfast spots. Over a long weekend in Bruges, I found two amazing breakfast places. Instagrammable? Yes. Delicious food? Yes. If you’re wondering where to have breakfast in Bruges, keep reading to find out more.
That’s Toast
That’s Toast is an amazing restaurant that brings delicious toast concepts, made from scratch using the freshest ingredients. This is an anytime of day restaurant as who doesn’t want toast for lunch or dinner, especially when there’si over 10 different toasts to choose from, including savoury and sweet varieties. Don’t worry, if you’re not a fan of toast there are some other breakfast options too, including granola, museli, salads and a poke bowl. Check out their full menu to find out more.
I ended up going for a savoury toast and chose ‘The Class’, this was made up of avocado, asparagus, a poached egg, grated grana padano and cress. It was so tasty, I’d definitely recommend it! My friend chose ‘The Smokey’ and absolutely loved it! Of course to drink, I chose a hot chocolate and yes you melt the chocolate directly in the milk!
That’s Toast is a popular spot amongst tourists and locals so you may have to wait for a bit to get a table. There are lots of tables inside though so you shouldn’t have to wait too long. If you want to avoid waiting, definitely get there as early as possible.
Li o Lait
A bit further down the street from That’s Toast you’ll find a cosy coffee shop, Li o Lait. This is again another popular breakfast spot amongst locals and tourists so you have may to wait for a table. They have a huge range of drinks and food available, everything is prepared fresh in the kitchen. In terms of food they specialise in bagels, choose from 19 different ways to have your bagels, from simple spreads, to toasted bagels to lunch bagels. Don’t worry if you don’t like bagels there are options too including eggs, museli and pastries. Have a look at their full menu here.
I went for a classic bagel with cream cheese with a museli bowl on the side and another hot chocolate to drink (I couldn’t get enough of the hot chocolate here). It was delicious and super quick service! The coffee shop itself has a cosy and relaxed atmosphere and if don’t want to sit down and eat you can always get a takeaway.
If you’re visiting Bruges then definitely visit these two amazing breakfast spots! For ideas on what to do in Bruges/Brussels have a look at my suggested itinerary and check out my post on Belgian waffles.
