Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park is a 720 square mile park and over half of Scotland’s population can reach the park within an hour’s drive. It’s located in Southern Scotland about an hours drive North of Glasgow. There are so many different things to do here, read on for my top 5 things to do in Loch Lomond.
Climb Conic Hill for views of Loch Lomond
This short but steep hike takes you to one of the best viewpoints of the eastern side of Loch Lomond! It takes about 45 minutes to an hour one way but it is so worth it. You might even find yourself some company, walking up the path like we did. To find out more about climbing Conic Hill read my post here.
Climb Ben Aan
Ben Aan is one of the best hikes in Loch Lomond, similar to Conic Hill it takes about 45 minutes to an hour each way and there is a very steep section but just take your time because at the top you are treated to amazing views of Loch Katrine and Loch Aberfoch. To find out more about climbing Ben Aan read my post here.
Kayak/SUP Paddle board on Loch Lomond
You can hire kayaks at Lomond Leisure which is located by Loch Lomond Shores. A twin kayak for 1 hr cost £25, but if kayaking isn’t your thing you can have a go at stand up paddleboarding, rowing or canoeing! You think you’d get much further than you do in an hour but it’s a great way to enjoy the Loch and appreciate its size! Watch out for the ripples that come from motorised boats or jet skis!
Bracklinn falls
Is a beautiful set of waterfalls a short walk from the car park. You have the option of parking at Bracklinn Falls car park or Callander car park and both are free. Bracklin Falls is slightly further up a single track lane. We chose to park at Callander and it was about a 15 minute walk from here. You can do a loop around the falls however the bridge is currently closed and is under structural review so we couldn’t complete this so it was one way there and one way back for us.
Falloch falls
Another lovely waterfall, which is a really quick 5-10 minute walk from the car park, which is again free.
